Product Overview

Pall HFU Series Large Flow Water Filter Element represents the advanced high-capacity filtration technology of Pall Ultipleat platform. Different from traditional small-diameter multi-cartridge combination filtration, the HFU series adopts a 6-inch wide-diameter core-free design with optimized crescent pleat arrangement, which dramatically increases the effective filtration area. A single HFU large flow element can replace multiple conventional small cartridges, effectively reducing the number of filter elements, filter housing volume and overall system operation costs for large-flow working conditions.

The complete HFU series product line covers 20/40/60 inch standard lengths, with filtration precision ranging from 1μm to 100μm, fully covering coarse filtration, medium filtration and fine security filtration demands in industrial water treatment. Two mainstream industrial-grade filter media are optional: UY gradient polypropylene media for universal aqueous and mild chemical fluid filtration, and GF microglass media for high-precision fine particle interception and strict membrane protection scenarios.

All HFU series elements adopt full thermal fusion integrated molding process without adhesive bonding, eliminating fiber shedding and secondary fluid contamination. Multiple sealing configurations including H, H13, J, EPDM and Viton are available to adapt to different temperature and chemical resistance requirements. The series supports a maximum continuous operating temperature of 82°C and a maximum differential pressure of 3.4 bar, adapting to 24/7 long-term heavy-duty industrial operation.

Filtration Working Principle

All Pall HFU Series Large Flow Water Filter Elements follow the standard inside-out gradient filtration principle. Driven by system operating pressure, raw water enters the inner cavity of the coreless filter element and penetrates outward layer by layer through multi-layer gradient pleated media.

The unique gradient structural design realizes hierarchical impurity interception: large suspended solids, sediment and flocs are trapped by the inner coarse pleated layer, while tiny colloids, fine particles and organic pollutants that easily cause membrane fouling are deeply intercepted by the outer high-precision media layer. The optimized crescent pleats eliminate fluid dead zones, reduce flow resistance, and maintain stable high-flow output throughout the service cycle. All intercepted pollutants are locked inside the filter element, avoiding secondary leakage and clean water pollution during replacement.

When the system inlet and outlet differential pressure rises to 25–35 PSID, the filter media reaches the dirt holding saturation limit. Timely replacement is required to restore the system’s rated high flow and filtration accuracy.
