2. Working Principle of Ultrafiltration Equipment

Ultrafiltration equipment adopts pressure-driven cross-flow filtration working mode, which is divided into two core states: normal water production filtration and pollutant cleaning regeneration.

Filtration State (Water Production)

Raw water is pressurized by the feed pump to 1.0–3.5 bar and enters the ultrafiltration membrane module. The ultrafiltration membrane has uniform micropores with a pore size of 0.01~0.1μm. Water molecules and small soluble inorganic salts smoothly pass through the membrane wall to form qualified produced water for subsequent use. Suspended particles, colloids, bacteria, algae, macromolecular organic matter and microbial metabolites are trapped on the outer surface of the hollow fiber membrane. Part of the raw water flows along the membrane surface at a high speed to form cross-flow concentrated water, which takes away most surface pollutants and reduces the formation of dense filter cake layers.

Cleaning Regeneration State

With long-term operation, a small amount of pollutants will adhere to the membrane surface and cause flux attenuation. The system automatically triggers two cleaning modes: regular backwashing uses clean produced water to reversely flush the membrane pores to wash off loose surface dirt; periodic CIP chemical cleaning uses sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide and dilute acid mixed medicament to dissolve biological slime and organic scaling, restoring the original flux of the ultrafiltration membrane and guaranteeing long-term stable water output efficiency of the equipment.
