1. Product Introduction

Centralized laboratory water supply RO system is a professional integrated water treatment facility built based on mature reverse osmosis separation technology. Different from independent bench-top lab water purifiers, this system produces pure water centrally and delivers qualified water to multiple laboratory rooms and experimental terminals through pressure-maintaining pipe network, which greatly simplifies water management for large laboratories.

The complete system adopts skid-mounted modular design. The front pretreatment unit is matched with high-performance liquid filter to intercept particulate impurities, colloids and suspended pollutants, effectively protecting internal RO membrane & modules against contamination and extending membrane service life. If you need reference layout solutions, reverse osmosis water treatment equipment (1+ ton/hour) provides classic standard configurations for medium-sized laboratories. Many research institutes will compare this system with separate small water dispensers; industrial-grade RO reverse osmosis system achieves consistent water quality for all water points and lowers overall long-term maintenance cost.

We support customized design for different laboratory scales. For medium-size research labs, medium-scale reverse osmosis equipment configuration is sufficient; for comprehensive testing parks or university central laboratories, we can expand into 200 tons/hour large-scale reverse osmosis unit. The whole system integrates pretreatment unit, reverse osmosis main unit, purified water storage tank, constant pressure water supply module, online water quality monitoring and PLC automatic control cabinet. After installation, operators can monitor water conductivity, flow and pressure in real time on the control panel.

Centralized laboratory water supply RO system can work independently to supply purified water, or be matched with post-stage polishing equipment to produce ultrapure water meeting strict analytical experiment standards. It has gradually become the preferred water solution for newly built and renovated modern laboratories.

2. Working Principle of Centralized Laboratory Water Supply RO System

To understand how the system runs steadily, we first clarify the principle of reverse osmosis. Under driving pressure, water molecules pass through semi-permeable RO membrane & modules, while dissolved salts, microorganisms, organic pollutants and heavy metal ions are intercepted on the concentrated water side. The whole water treatment workflow is divided into four key stages:

Stage1: Pretreatment filtration

Raw water sequentially flows through multi-media filter, activated carbon filter and liquid filter. This step removes sediment, residual chlorine and colloids, stabilizes inlet water SDI value, and avoids irreversible fouling of RO membranes. It is the foundation to reduce equipment failures in long-term continuous operation.

Stage2: Pressurization and reverse osmosis separation

Qualified pretreated water is boosted by high-pressure pump to reach rated operating pressure, then enters membrane pressure vessels loaded with RO membrane & modules. After membrane separation, water is divided into product purified water and concentrated wastewater. The produced pure water flows into the intermediate water tank.

Stage3: Constant-pressure centralized water distribution

Purified water stored in tank is delivered to each experimental terminal through constant pressure pump and circulating pipeline. The circulating pipeline design prevents water stagnation, effectively inhibiting bacterial reproduction inside pipes and guaranteeing stable water quality at each water outlet.

Stage4: Intelligent monitoring and automatic flushing

The PLC control system continuously monitors water quality, operating pressure and tank liquid level. When the system is shut down, automatic cross-flow flushing will be activated to wash pollutants attached on membrane surfaces. Operators can set automatic start-stop logic according to laboratory working hours.

If experimental projects require ultrapure water beyond RO standard, polishing EDI or ion exchange modules can be added after the RO main unit to further improve water purity.

System water recovery rate: 65% ~ 78%

Inlet raw water requirements: Turbidity ≤1NTU, residual chlorine <0.1mg/L, SDI ≤5 Working temperature: 5℃ ~ 40℃, optimal temperature: 18~28℃

Control mode: Full-automatic PLC control, equipped with online conductivity monitor, liquid level linkage control, high/low pressure protection, automatic membrane flushing Pipeline optional materials: UPVC, 304 stainless steel or 316L stainless steel to meet laboratory sanitary requirements

4. Product Quality Standard

All sets of centralized laboratory water supply RO system follow strict laboratory water treatment quality specifications.

First, core components adopt reliable RO membrane & modules with stable desalination performance. Supporting liquid filter uses high dirt-holding filter material to guarantee stable pretreatment efficiency. High-pressure pumps, sensors and control components select well-known brands suitable for continuous operation.

Secondly, every complete system undergoes hydraulic pressure test, continuous running test and water quality inspection before delivery. The skid frame adopts anti-corrosion treatment to adapt to laboratory indoor environment. For medium-scale reverse osmosis equipment and large expanded projects, we provide complete process flow drawings, operation manual and installation guidelines. When expanding to large projects, the system can be upgraded to 200 tons/hour large-scale reverse osmosis unit.

Thirdly, our technical team provides remote technical guidance and optional on-site commissioning service. Regular maintenance guidance can effectively extend the service life of RO membrane & modules and reduce unexpected downtime during experimental cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ1 Q: What are the advantages of centralized laboratory water supply RO system compared with independent bench-top lab water machines?

A: Centralized RO system realizes unified water production, all terminals obtain consistent water quality; it is easier to maintain, saves space and reduces overall procurement cost. Independent small machines lead to inconsistent water quality and scattered maintenance work.

FAQ2 Q: What size system should I choose for a medium-sized laboratory?

A: You can take reverse osmosis water treatment equipment (1+ ton/hour) as the basic reference. We calculate the required water yield based on the number of water terminals, daily working hours and peak water consumption, and provide medium-scale reverse osmosis equipment scheme for selection.

FAQ3 Q: Is circulating pipeline design necessary for centralized laboratory RO water supply system?

A: Highly recommended. Circulating pipeline avoids water stagnation inside pipelines, suppresses bacterial growth and ensures stable water quality at every water outlet terminal.

FAQ4 Q: How to extend the service life of RO membrane & modules in the system?

A: Equip qualified liquid filter for pretreatment; strictly control inlet water residual chlorine and SDI value; activate automatic membrane flushing; arrange regular chemical cleaning if membrane fouling occurs.

FAQ5 Q: Can this system be expanded later when laboratory scale enlarges?

A: Yes. We reserve expansion interfaces during initial design. Medium-scale reverse osmosis equipment can be upgraded step by step, and can eventually expand to 200 tons/hour large-scale reverse osmosis unit according to future water demand growth.

FAQ6 Q: Can centralized laboratory water supply RO system directly produce ultrapure water for instrumental analysis?

A: The RO main unit produces purified water. If you need 15~18.2MΩ·cm ultrapure water for HPLC, IC and precision instruments, post-stage polishing modules need to be installed after the RO system.
