2. Working Principle of Small Ultrafiltration Membrane Equipment

Small ultrafiltration membrane equipment adopts pressure-driven cross-flow filtration principle, and the whole operation cycle is divided into three circulating working modes: normal water production filtration, backwash cleaning and regular chemical cleaning.

2.1 Normal Water Production Filtration Stage

Raw water enters the hollow fiber membrane tube under the pressure of the small feed pump. The membrane pore size is fixed at 0.01~0.1μm. Water molecules and tiny soluble substances penetrate the membrane wall to form clean produced water for use. Impurities such as suspended solids, colloids and microorganisms are trapped on the inner wall of the membrane filaments. The cross flow of raw water continuously scours the membrane surface to reduce the accumulation of dirt and maintain stable water output.

2.2 Backwash Cleaning Stage

As the dirt accumulates, the system pressure difference rises gradually. Users can start manual backwash regularly, or the automatic model will trigger backwash according to the set time. Clean produced water flows reversely into the membrane tube to flush loose dirt on the membrane surface, and dirt is discharged out of the equipment with concentrated water. The whole process takes only 3–8 minutes and will not affect long-term water supply.

2.3 Regular Chemical Cleaning

Long-term operation will form stubborn organic dirt and biological slime on the membrane surface. The small dosing tank is matched to prepare dilute acid and alkali solution for circulating soaking cleaning, restore the original flux of the small membrane component and prolong the service life of the ultrafiltration membrane.
