1. Product Introduction

Municipal wastewater reuse reverse osmosis system is a customized advanced water treatment solution built upon Industrial Reverse Osmosis Equipment. After biochemical treatment in municipal sewage plants, secondary effluent still contains residual organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, soluble salts and trace heavy metals. Ordinary filtration technology cannot reach the standard of industrial reuse water, while municipal wastewater reuse reverse osmosis system performs deep purification to turn urban sewage into usable recycled water.

The whole set adopts skid-mounted integrated design, suitable for indoor and semi-outdoor installation of sewage treatment plants. The front pretreatment unit is equipped with high-performance liquid filter to intercept suspended solids, biological sludge and colloidal pollutants, effectively preventing biological fouling of subsequent RO membrane elements. During scheme design, engineers can select different types of RO elements, including Low Energy RO Membrane to cut power consumption or High Rejection RO Membrane for stricter water quality requirements. For old sewage plant reconstruction projects, we can provide targeted RO equipment retrofit/upgrade and Existing RO system capacity expansion services without fully replacing the original facilities. Users can choose to install RO equipment remote monitoring system to realize real-time online viewing of pressure, flow and water quality data.

Many urban water management departments compare this RO reuse system with traditional advanced oxidation processes. Reverse osmosis technology achieves stable removal of dissolved salts and trace contaminants, while effluent quality is less affected by seasonal raw water fluctuation. The treated recycled water can be delivered to industrial enterprises for production cooling, urban road watering, landscape water replenishment and green irrigation. Concentrated water generated during RO separation can flow back to the front end of the sewage treatment process or be treated separately in accordance with local environmental regulations. Different from zero liquid discharge RO concentration system which targets high-salinity industrial wastewater, municipal wastewater reuse reverse osmosis system focuses on energy-saving and anti-biological pollution design to adapt to urban secondary effluent characteristics. It has become the preferred technical route for sponge city construction and urban water shortage mitigation.

2. Working Principle of Municipal Wastewater Reuse Reverse Osmosis System

To understand how the system operates steadily, we first clarify reverse osmosis separation theory. Driven by external pressure, water molecules penetrate semi-permeable RO membranes, while residual organic pollutants, soluble salts, microorganisms and particulate impurities are intercepted on the concentrated water side.

The complete municipal wastewater reuse workflow is divided into five core stages:

Stage1: Advanced pretreatment filtration

Secondary effluent from sewage plant flows through multi-media filter, activated carbon filter and liquid filter sequentially. This step reduces turbidity and SDI value, intercepts biological flocs, and is the core method to slow down RO membrane biological pollution.

Stage2: Dosing regulation

Automatic dosing system adds biocide, scale inhibitor and pH regulator regularly to suppress microbial reproduction and membrane surface scaling.

Stage3: Reverse osmosis deep purification

Qualified pretreated water is boosted by high-efficiency pump and enters membrane pressure vessels loaded with Low Energy RO Membrane or High Rejection RO Membrane. After membrane separation, water is divided into two streams: qualified recycled product water and concentrated wastewater.

Stage4: Recycled water storage and distribution

Purified recycled water is stored in clean water tanks and transported to industrial users or urban water supply pipe networks for reuse.

Stage5: Intelligent monitoring and automatic flushing

PLC control system monitors conductivity, pressure and liquid level continuously. Timed cross-flow flushing is automatically executed to wash sludge and biomembrane attached to membrane surfaces. The optional RO equipment remote monitoring system allows operators to check running status and receive fault alerts remotely.

When ultra-high purity reuse water is required, two-stage reverse osmosis configuration can be added to further improve pollutant removal efficiency.

3. Core Technical Parameters

We carry out personalized design according to sewage plant daily processing volume, secondary effluent water quality and target reuse standard. Standard technical parameters of municipal wastewater reuse reverse osmosis system are as follows:

Processing capacity: 1m³/h ~ 200m³/h, customizable; large-scale projects can adopt parallel connection of multiple sets of Industrial Reverse Osmosis Equipment

Permeate water quality: Conductivity, COD, turbidity and salt content meet urban recycled water reuse standards

Single-pass salt rejection rate: ≥97%

System water recovery rate: 60% ~ 75%

Inlet water requirements after pretreatment: Turbidity ≤1 NTU, SDI ≤5, residual chlorine <0.1mg/L

Working temperature: 8℃ ~ 38℃

Control mode: Full-automatic PLC control, online water quality monitoring, automatic flushing, support access to RO equipment remote monitoring system

Optional membrane elements: Low Energy RO Membrane for energy saving; High Rejection RO Membrane for strict water quality requirements

Pipeline material: UPVC, 304 stainless steel optional, adapting to long-term contact with treated sewage

4. Product Quality Standard

All municipal wastewater reuse reverse osmosis systems implement strict urban water treatment equipment specifications.

Firstly, core RO membrane elements can be selected from Low Energy RO Membrane or High Rejection RO Membrane according to project demands. Supporting liquid filter adopts high dirt-holding filter material to stabilize pretreatment effect. High-pressure pumps, sensors and valves select energy-saving industrial brands suitable for uninterrupted continuous operation.

Secondly, every complete system passes hydraulic pressure test and continuous running test before delivery. The skid base adopts anti-corrosion coating to adapt humid sewage plant environment. For renovation projects, we provide complete RO equipment retrofit/upgrade construction drawings and operation guidance.

Thirdly, our technical team provides remote guidance and optional on-site commissioning service. Standardized maintenance plans effectively extend membrane service life and reduce unexpected shutdown risks in municipal continuous operation scenarios.

5. Application Fields of Municipal Wastewater Reuse Reverse Osmosis System

This urban sewage deep reuse RO system is widely applied in the following scenarios:

Municipal sewage treatment plant secondary effluent advanced treatment and recycled water production

Urban industrial park centralized recycled water supply for factory circulating cooling

Sponge city supporting facilities: landscape water replenishment, urban greening irrigation

Urban road cleaning, municipal sanitation water reuse
