MFNP050‑40N‑ITT CARTRIDGE FILTERS Mega‑Flow High‑Flow Pleated Element

MFNP050‑40N‑ITT CARTRIDGE FILTERS are 5‑micron nominal Mega‑Flow high‑flow pleated filter elements, designed for heavy‑duty large‑volume industrial water pretreatment and widely adopted as security pre‑filtration for reverse osmosis membrane systems. It works alongside POV12UNPFA high flow filter cartridge, and cooperates with PFTM11UNF high flow filter cartridge to deliver stable particle interception for seawater desalination, power‑plant boiler makeup water and industrial water reuse projects. MFNP050‑40N‑ITT cartridge filters adopt multi‑layer gradient polypropylene pleated media, with 40‑inch length and 6‑inch large outer diameter, bringing large dirt‑holding capacity and low initial pressure drop. They effectively trap fine silt, suspended solids and colloidal contaminants, protecting high‑cost downstream RO membrane modules from particle abrasion and premature fouling. Built‑in lifting handle and integrated nitrile O‑ring seal support tool‑free quick cartridge swap, reducing equipment downtime and cutting comprehensive operating costs for global industrial water‑treatment facilities.

Product Description

MFNP050‑40N‑ITT CARTRIDGE FILTERS belong to the Mega‑Flow high‑flow filter product line, developed for large‑flow liquid pre‑filtration and RO membrane protection scenarios. The nominal dimension is 40‑inch (1016 mm) length and 6‑inch (152 mm) outer diameter, featuring core‑free single open‑end outside‑in flow structure. A single filter cartridge can reach flow rate up to 1300 LPM, which greatly reduces the total number of filter elements and filter housing investment compared with traditional small‑size filter cartridges.

This cartridge filter is fully constructed of poly‑propylene materials, including multi‑layer progressive pleated polypropylene filter media, reinforced inner‑outer polypropylene support cages, glass‑fiber reinforced PP end caps and integrated nitrile O‑ring. All connecting joints adopt thermal fusion hot‑melt welding technology without adhesive, avoiding secondary water pollution caused by glue dissolution. Large pleated area provides sufficient filtration surface to extend service life. With nominal 5‑micron filtration accuracy, it mainly removes fine silt, suspended particles and colloidal impurities ahead of high‑precision reverse osmosis systems.

An integrated molded lifting handle is set on the open‑end side for convenient pulling‑out and installation during on‑site maintenance, compatible with vertical and horizontal Mega‑flow filter housings. When cooperating with upstream multimedia filtration and activated carbon pretreatment devices, the whole pretreatment system can keep feed‑water SDI value stably below 5, meeting strict inlet‑water index requirements of seawater and brackish‑water reverse osmosis systems. MFNP050‑40N‑ITT cartridge filters are widely purchased and stocked by EPC contractors, power plants, water‑treatment operators and filter spare‑part distributors. The maximum continuous operating temperature of standard nitrile seal version reaches 80 °C; EPDM, silicone and fluororubber sealing options are available for special working‑condition demands.

Working Principle

MFNP050‑40N‑ITT CARTRIDGE FILTERS follow outside‑in cross‑flow depth microfiltration principle. Untreated raw water flows into high‑flow filter housing and evenly spreads to the outer pleated surface of MFNP050‑40N‑ITT cartridge. Driven by system operating pressure, large‑granule sediment and coarse suspended flocs are trapped on outer pleated layers, while fine particles and colloids are intercepted layer‑by‑layer through gradient polypropylene media from outer surface to inner core.

Purified filtrate penetrates filter media layers, converges inside inner core and flows toward downstream RO or UF membrane units. The outer‑coarse‑inner‑fine gradient pore‑size structure maximizes dirt‑holding capacity and slows the rising speed of inlet‑outlet differential pressure. With continuous operation, intercepted pollutants accumulate gradually on filter media surface. Operators need to replace the cartridge timely when differential pressure reaches 25‑30 PSID alarm threshold, so as to restore rated water throughput and filtration performance.

Full‑polypropylene material delivers reliable chemical compatibility, adapting to most neutral aqueous solutions and conventional acid‑base cleaning agents for housing maintenance. Reinforced inner‑outer support cages effectively prevent media collapse and deformation under high‑velocity water‑flow impact, avoid fluid bypass, and maintain stable 5‑micron particle‑removal efficiency in the whole service cycle.

Technical Features

  • 40‑inch length, 6‑inch large outer diameter, core‑free single open‑end structure, perfectly matched for Mega‑Flow high‑flow filter housings, supporting vertical and horizontal installation.

  • Multi‑layer progressive pleated polypropylene filter media, nominal 5‑micron rating, stable interception performance for fine silt, suspended solids and colloidal contaminants.

  • Outside‑in flow‑path layout, capturing pollutants on outer media surface and reducing fine‑particle leakage risk towards downstream membrane pipelines.
