BW30FR-400/34i Fouling Resistant Brackish Water RO Membrane

Product Description

The BW30FR-400/34i is a premium 8-inch industrial anti-fouling reverse osmosis membrane element with a full 400 sq.ft effective membrane area, specially optimized for medium and low salinity raw water with organic matter, suspended solids and microbial risks. Different from ordinary high-rejection RO membranes that lack anti-fouling modification, this product adopts upgraded hydrophilic membrane surface treatment and optimized membrane leaf layout, which effectively resists organic adsorption and biofilm growth. Equipped with standard 34mil thickened wide feed spacer and exclusive iLEC interlocking end cap structure, it eliminates internal leakage and uneven water flow in series installation. Under standard test conditions, it achieves a stable permeate flow of 40m³/d and a nominal salt rejection of 99.5%, with excellent interception performance for TOC, colloids, bacteria, silica and heavy metal ions. Fully compatible with mainstream 8-inchRO pressure vessels, it supports zero-modification direct replacement of conventional BW series membrane elements, avoiding pipeline and control system reconstruction. With an ultra-wide pH tolerance range, it adapts to frequent chemical cleaning and long-term continuous operation of complex water treatment projects, perfectly solving the frequent blockage and performance attenuation pain points of ordinary membranes in polluted water scenarios.

Working Principle

BW30FR-400/34i operates based on modified thin-film composite polyamide reverse osmosis separation technology and targeted anti-fouling molecular screening mechanism. Driven by low hydraulic pressure higher than raw water osmotic pressure, pure water molecules penetrate the high-hydrophilic polyamide active layer efficiently. In contrast, soluble salts, macromolecular organics, microbial colonies and suspended pollutants are physically trapped on the feed water side and discharged with concentrated brine. The core technical upgrade lies in the hydrophilic modified membrane surface, which reduces surface tension and prevents organic pollutants and biofilms from adhering to the membrane layer. The optimized 34mil wide flow channel forms strong turbulent scouring inside the element, eliminates dead water zones and concentration polarization, and avoids local dirt accumulation and differential pressure rise. The whole process belongs to pure physical filtration without chemical addition, realizing continuous and stable salt-water separation and anti-fouling purification, and maintaining long-term stable water production efficiency.

Technical Features

1. Upgraded Hydrophilic Anti-Fouling Membrane Formula:

Adopts exclusive surface hydrophilic modification technology, effectively reducing organic adhesion and biofilm formation. It solves the core problem of easy fouling of ordinary RO membranes in recycled water and slightly polluted water, maintaining stable flux for a long time.

2. Ultra-High and Stable Salt Rejection:

The compact modified polyamide active layer achieves a stable 99.5% salt rejection rate for conventional sodium chloride, with excellent interception effect on silica, boron, nitrate and TOC, meeting high-standard industrial and municipal water purification requirements.

3. 34mil Wide Flow Channel Anti-Blocking Structure:

The widened and thickened feed spacer enhances internal water turbulence and scouring capacity, reduces dirt deposition and pressure drop growth rate, and effectively extends the systemchemical cleaning cycle.

4. Industry-Leading Wide pH Tolerance:

Supports continuous stable operation at pH 2–11 and short-term chemical cleaning at pH 1–13. It adapts to strong acid and strong alkali cleaning processes, suitable for complex water quality with frequent pollution risks.

5. iLEC Interlocking End Cap Sealing Design:

Precision interlocking structure eliminates series internal leakage and O-ring failure risks, improves overall system water production efficiency, and ensures consistent effluent water quality.

Product Advantages

1. Excellent Anti-Fouling & Anti-Attenuation Performance:

Compared with standard brackish water RO membranes, BW30FR-400/34i has stronger resistance to organic pollution and biofouling. It avoids rapid flux decline in recycled water and polluted water projects, maintaining stable water yield throughout the service cycle.

2. Lower Long-Term Operation Costs:

Extended cleaning cycles reduce manual maintenance and chemical consumption. The stable structural performance lowers membrane replacement frequency, effectively cutting overall operation and maintenance expenses for water treatment systems.

3. Strong Complex Water Quality Adaptability:

It performs excellently in medium and low salinity brackish water, municipal secondary reclaimed water, industrial circulating water and slightly polluted surface water, tolerating fluctuations of SDI value and organic content in raw water.

4. High-Efficiency Cleaning & Quick Recovery:

Thanks to the wide pH chemical tolerance and hydrophilic membrane surface, dirt can be thoroughly removed through conventional acid-base cleaning. The membrane flux can be quickly restored after cleaning with no permanent performance loss.

5. Zero-Modification Universal Compatibility:

Standard 8-inch size and installation parameters are fully compatible with BW30-400/34i and BW30LE-400/34i. It supports plug-and-play replacement without modifying pressure vessels, pipelines and control systems for fast system upgrading.

Application Fields

1. Industrial Circulating Water Treatment:

Applied to circulating cooling water purification and reuse in chemical, steel, power and manufacturing enterprises, reducing water conductivity and organic content to realize factory water recycling.

2. Municipal Reclaimed Water Reuse Project:

Suitable for secondary and tertiary depth purification of urban domestic sewage, removing residual organic matter, salts and colloids to reach industrial reuse and landscape water standards.

3. Polluted Brackish Water Desalination:

Ideal for inland slightly polluted brackish water and high-organic groundwater treatment, solving the fouling problem of ordinary membranes in complex saline water and ensuring stable desalination efficiency.

4. Industrial Process Water Preparation:

Used for pretreatment desalination of boiler feed water and general industrial process water, effectively protecting subsequent water treatment equipment from scaling and contamination.

5. Commercial Centralized Water Supply:

Matched with large-scale water treatment equipment in industrial parks and urban water plants to provide stable and high-quality pure water for centralized water supply systems with fluctuating raw water quality.

FAQs

Q3: What are the standard operating and cleaning pH ranges of BW30FR-400/34i?

A3: This anti-fouling RO membrane has an ultra-wide chemical tolerance range. The continuous stable operating pH range is 2–11, and the short-term chemical cleaning pH range reaches 1–13. The wide pH adaptability supports thorough acid and alkali cleaning, effectively removing inorganic scale and organic biofouling.

Q4: What water scenarios is BW30FR-400/34i most suitable for?

A4: It is specially optimized for easy-fouling water environments, including municipal reclaimed water, industrial circulating water, slightly polluted brackish water and high-organic groundwater. It is the best choice for water treatment projects with frequent organic pollution and fluctuating raw water quality, avoiding frequent membrane replacement caused by fouling failure.

Q5: How to maintain BW30FR-400/34i to maximize service life?

A5: Conduct regular forward flushing every 7–10 days to eliminate surface suspended pollutants. Perform alkaline cleaning for microbial and organic fouling, and acidic cleaning for inorganic scale. Adjust the cleaning cycle according to raw water SDI value (≤5). Avoid long-term over-pressure and over-limit pH operation to maintain stable anti-fouling and desalination performance.
