2. Working Principle of Ultrafiltration Membrane Filter Equipment

Ultrafiltration membrane filter equipment operates on the cross-flow filtration principle, taking pressure difference as driving force, and uses the physical screening effect of membrane micropores to separate impurities from water body. The whole working cycle is divided into three core working modes: normal water production filtration, automatic backwashing, periodic chemical circulating cleaning.

2.1 Normal Filtration & Water Production Process

Original water is pressurized by feed pump and flows into the inner cavity of hollow fiber membrane filaments. The pore size of ultrafiltration membrane is stably controlled at 0.01~0.1 μm. Water molecules and tiny soluble substances penetrate the membrane wall outward to form qualified produced water for subsequent RO treatment or direct reuse. Suspended particles, colloids, bacteria, algae and macromolecular organics are trapped inside the hollow fiber. The tangential high-speed flow of raw water continuously scours the membrane inner wall to inhibit the accumulation of pollutant cake layer and maintain stable membrane flux during long-term operation.

2.2 Automatic Backwashing Process

With the continuous accumulation of intercepted pollutants, the pressure difference between feed side and produced water side gradually rises. When the numerical value reaches the system preset threshold, PLC will automatically open the backwash valve. Clean produced water reversely washes the membrane filaments to peel off surface dirt, and the concentrated wastewater is discharged out of the system. The backwash process is short and will not cause long-time system shutdown.

2.3 Periodic Chemical Cleaning Process

Physical backwashing cannot eliminate organic slime, biological attachments and inorganic scale deposited in membrane pores after long-term operation.
