Multimedia Filter

Multimedia Filter is excellent for cases where pre-treatment of water for turbidity reduction, softening and pure water production, with reliable impurity removal and stable effluent quality, is required in cooling water treatment, raw water treatment, paper making, irrigation and other industries.


The multimedia filter uses one or several filter media to pass water with high turbidity through a certain thickness of granular or non-granular materials under a certain pressure, effectively removing suspended solids and clarifying the water. Commonly used filter media include quartz sand, anthracite, manganese sand, etc. It is mainly used for water treatment turbidity removal, softening, pre-treatment of pure water, etc., with effluent turbidity up to 3 degrees or less.

Product Features

The equipment is mainly composed of tank body, water distribution system, water collection system, filter material layer, partition (flat plate) water cap, bearing layer and internal supporting pipes. It is connected with main pipelines such as raw water inlet, clean water outlet, backwash drainage, and matching control valves, pressure gauges, sampling valves, etc. Using quartz sand and anthracite as filter media, it adopts pressure filtration.
Working Principle
The multimedia filter (also known as mechanical filter) uses layered anthracite, sand, crushed garnet or other materials as the filter bed. The top layer of the bed is composed of the lightest and coarsest grade materials, and the heaviest and finest grade materials are placed at the bottom of the bed. The principle is depth filtration: larger particles in water are removed in the top layer, and smaller particles are removed deeper in the filter medium, so that the water quality reaches the standard after rough filtration. The equipment is pressure type. When raw water passes through the filter material from top to bottom, suspended solids in water are intercepted on the filter material layer due to adsorption and mechanical interception.
